Determined to lift members out of poverty level and to further champion self reliance , the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Comforters Assembly , Lagos Province 38 on Saturday , empowered no fewer than 55 women and youths on wealth creations.
The empowerment project is in line with the Parish 3rd year anniversary and its Christian Social Responsibility (CSR).
Speaking at the end of the training programmes, Chairman of the 2019 Anniversary Planning Committee , Mr. John Arinze Mbadugha stated that the empowerment project was aimed to better the lots of members through Christ Jesus; mostly as it concerns women and youths.
Mbadugha reiterated that the committee concluded to support members who are unemployed with skill acquisition and to also create wealth for themselves.
The chairman said the committee harped on the need to come up with something unique from previous anniversary held in the church adding that participants were trained on soap making, insecticide , scouring powder disinfectants, bleach ,make up , gele (head gear) , etc.
According to him, the church would further extend the empowerment programme to the immediate community , pointing out that RCCG Comforters Assembly has set objectives to impact on the lives of members meaningfully.
In continuation of the church contribution to members who partook in the programme , the Chairman stated that the committee would engage leaders of the church to brainstorm in bid to assist those willing to further on their area of interest.
“We all are aware of the hardship in the country and that was how we decided to come up with something unique that can affect the lives of our members positively.
Mbadugha said ” From the list we have close to sixty participants including youths and women and that will tell you how committed and dedicated they are to the empowerment programme.
” It was quite interactive because communication was established between the trainers and the participants.
“They were trained on how to proper soap making ,gele ,insecticide ,bleach etc.
” We are looking on how we can carry our immediate community along based on the fact that our vision is to see beyond the church because it is a way of evangelism to the people and to build capacity.”
Two professional trainers were on ground to groom participants on skill acquisition
Earlier in her remarks, the Make-up and Gele trainer Rosemary Iyaogeh , Managing Director , Variety House of Beauty, urged participants to constantly practice after the empowerment programme, noting that millions of people globally survive through make up artist and tying of gele.
The MD said make up artist is a profession that can move millions out of poverty level in Nigeria.
On her part liquid Air freshener, disinfectant, scrubbing power,bleach and insecticide and soap making trainer and MD Fommi Production , Mrs Opeyemi Joseph tasked participants to create wealth for themselves after the project.
Joseph affirmed that the participants can build strong commodity brand if taken seriously after the empowerment programme.
She , however added that the empowerment programme would serve as tool in providing means of livelihood for participants and their respective families.
