R. Kelly Wants Out Of Solitary Confinement

R-Kelly is pleading with the federal judge to remove him from solitary confinement in prison and put him in general population.

TMZ previously reported that the 52-year-old was happy to be alone in solitary, as he feared for his life at the time. But it looks like Kelly is changing his tune; as his lawyer filed documents, obtained by TMZ, saying the singer’s solitary confinement is designed for punishment instead of pending trial housing.

Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg explained that Kelly has no interaction with humans, time outside, access to media, recreational activities, or visitation, and is showering only three days a week. He also is given only one 15-minute phone call a month and is not allowed to purchase snacks or candy from the commissary

Kelly’s attorney says he can provide other examples, and since his client hasn’t violated any rules and has not been convicted of a crime, he argues that should grant him better treatment. Greenberg claims Kelly is being bullied because of his “celebrity status,” and for being charged for sex crimes involving minors.

As a result, the lawyer is asking that a judge release him from solitary confinement because of the harm it could be doing to Kelly’s physical and mental health.
