PROTEST: 54 Suspected Shiite Members Under Interrogation… Frank Mba

Nigeria Police Force Spokesman ,Frank Mba on Monday evening disclosed that no fewer than 54 suspected members members are currently going through interrogation at the force headquarters over the fall out of the protest in Abuja.

 

Mba who spoke exclusively, on a television programme and monitored by our correspondent ,noted that over 4,000 protesters under the Shiite movement stormed the Abuja Federal Secretariat at about at 12:15pm local time, even as he confirmed that Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, was killed in the process.

He also confirmed that a National Youths Service Corps (NYSC),member serving with Channels Television and three other top police officials are in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital.

He added that the protesting Shiite group allegedly shot the corps member, pointing out

 

He also reiterated the Inspector General of Police commitment to brief President Muhammadu Buhari on the situational reports and outcome of the protest.

 

Meanwhile,DCP Usman Umar, death during the protest by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as the Shiites, has thrown the entire police community into mourning, with his colleagues describing the incident as painful.

Umar, until his appointment as the DCP, Operations, was the Principal Staff Officer (PSO), to former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.
