President SSASCGOC, P-G MWUN, AC Ogbemudia, Ezisi, Others Dazzle At Searchlight Media Summit

The President of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government-Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) Maritime Branch, Comrade Akinola Bodunde; President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade  Francis Bunu were among those honoured by organisers of the 7th Global Leadership Summit & Awards.

President of NAGAFF , High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi and Assistant Controller at Kirikiri Lighter Terminal KLT Command of Nigeria Customs Service,AC Francis Ogbemudia also dazzled at the event.

The distinguished awards ceremony was held on Saturday, 6 December 2025, in Lagos, at the 7th Global Leadership Summit & Awards.

Others honoured :include Prince Wale Cole, Chairman and Public Relations Officer of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Tin Can Island Port Chapter; Joy Onome Monije, Deputy Controller of Customs; DC Nkiru Iwala, Controller, Tin Can Island Port Command, Nigeria Customs Service; Comptroller Frank Onyeka; and Assistant Comptroller General, Nigeria Customs Service, ACG Ahmadu Bello Shu’aibu.

Organizers of the event also honoured Primate Oluwarotimi Dada; HRM Adekunle Adefemi Adebayo; Dr. Oluwasegun Musa; President, Dockworkers Branch, MWUN, Comrade Akeem Agboola; Customs Area Controller, Lekki Port, Comptroller Hauwa Kulu Anifowoshe-Abubakar; Lagos Area Manager, NIWA, Engr. Sarat Braimah; CEO ENMAL Orthopedic Limited, Dr. Ifeanyi Madu; Comrade Michael Adetumi; and Comrade Olajide Olalekan from MWUN.

According to Lola Adesokan, Publisher of Searchlight News and convener of the event, the theme “Celebrating Visionary Leaders Driving Economic, Social, and Institutional Transformation” reflects the core mandate of the Summit honoured individuals whose leadership is shaping national progress across multiple sectors.

She noted that the Summit remains one of Nigeria’s most credible platforms for celebrating impactful leadership and fostering conversations that strengthen institutions.In her welcome address, she reiterated:

“Today’s gathering is a testament to the power of leadership—leadership that inspires progress, strengthens institutions, empowers communities, and shapes the future of our nation.

“At a time when Nigeria requires fresh thinking, strategic reforms, and courageous decision-making, the individuals we honor today have demonstrated excellence, innovation, and integrity in their respective sectors.”She added.

Adesokan noted that this year, they recognize a distinguished class of awardees: men and women who have contributed immensely to maritime development, logistics transformation, creative industry expansion, public administration, community development, technology advancement, and more.

“Your presence here today signifies your role as catalysts of positive change—leaders whose actions reflect commitment to economic growth, institutional strengthening, and social harmony.”

“We also acknowledge our keynote speaker, paper presenters, partners, and supporters who have contributed to the success of this event. As we celebrate excellence today, may this gathering inspire us all to continue driving the transformation that Nigeria truly deserves.

.”The highlights of the event included a paper presentation by Dr. Oluwasegun Musa, a respected maritime expert, strategic thinker, and national development advocate whose work continues to influence transport policy.

The Summit also featured two powerful technical and policy-focused presentations. Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, was represented by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN, who presented a paper titled “Building Institutional Strength Through Labour Unity: The Role of Maritime Workers in National Development.

Additionally, High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, President of NAGAFF, was represented by Comrade Emeka Nwosu, delivered a paper on “Trade Facilitation and Leadership Transformation: Strengthening Freight Forwarding Systems for Sustainable Economic Growth.”

Similarly, DC Nwala commended the convener for her perseverance in hosting the event over seven editions, stressing that Searchlight Magazine has come to stay.
