POST COVID19: Okowa Harps On Road Connectivity To Boost Economic Development

The Delta State, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa restated the importance of road connectivity to the economic development of the state.

Okowa emphasized that despite the prevailing COVID19 pandemic, the infrastructural development of the state will be sustained.

‪The Governor gave the assurance while speaking to newsmen on Thursday, shortly after inspecting Alihami-Agbor-Nta-Oki road in Ika South LGA, Owanta Erosion Control and road project, and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Training School, Owa-Oyibu in Ika North East LGA.‬

“Having road interconnectivity in the State is good for commerce and economic development of benefiting communities.

“This administration is committed to executing projects that will impact directly on the people,” Governor Okowa said.

Also the state government reaffirmed its determination to complete the ongoing construction of Trans-Warri road and bridges in Warri South LGA.

The Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after carrying out an inspection of some ongoing projects in the area.

‪The Commissioner further stated that the inspection was to ensure that all contractors handling projects for government were on site in-line with the directives given by the State for contractors to return back to site following the relaxation of the COVID19 lockdown. ‬

“I must commend the contractors for the great job done so far — I however want to urge them to increase the pace of work to ensure that this project is completed by the end of next year,” the Commissioner said.
