Police Personnel At APC National Secretariat Strictly To Maintain Orderliness — Mba

Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu

Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force have been deployed to the National Secretariat of the All Progressive Congress, located at Blantyre Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja.

According to a statement by DCP Frank Mba, spokesman of the force on Tuesday, said the deployment is a proactive move by the Force to maintain peace and ensure there is no breakdown of law and order at the Secretariat.

Mba said the presence of police personnel at the Secretariat is not to seal-up the Complex as has been reported in some quarters but rather to prevent any untoward situation within and around the APC National Secretariat.

Recall that the National Secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja was reported to have sealed off on the orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

This comes amidst the leadership crisis rocking the ruling party. The IGP had instructed that members of the National Working Committee(NWC) should not be allowed to enter the party secretariat.

A party source said the seal off was to enable the Police chief and the two NWC groups to review and discuss the various court orders being brandished.

The party has been in a leadership crisis following an appeal court order upholding the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the party.

The party’s National Working Committee had affirmed former Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, as the Acting National Chairman.

However, due to Mr Ajimobi’s unavoidable absence, the NWC appointed the National Vice Chairman, South-South, Hilliard Etta to act on his behalf.
