Oyeyemi Inaugurated As 21st National President Of CILT, Pledges To Consolidate On Usoro’s Achievements

Dr. Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi has been Inaugurated as the 21st National President and Chairman of Council , Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT),Nigeria.

Oyeyemi and his executives were inaugurated on Thursday, November 27 2025 in Lagos , even as the new leadership looks forward to building on this solid foundation to make the Institute stronger and more impactful in Nigeria and beyond .

The new leadership will aim to secure formal legislative recognition for the Institute, continuing the work of making CILT Nigeria a strong and effective professional body central to the logistics and transport sectors in Nigeria and Africa.

 

Speaking during the investiture , the CILT Nigeria President noted that leadership is about stewardship not privilege adding that the institute stands at the threshold of renewal built to consolidate, modernise and globalise.

Dr. Oyeyemi charged the newly executives that their positions will be centred on “call to service”, even as he presented a vision to build a more resilient, globally recognized Institute that fosters professional standards and bridges industry, government, and academia in logistics and transport.

His agenda focuses on membership growth, digital enhancements, employer engagement, and elevating Nigeria’s role within CILT International and Africa.

Dr. Oyeyemi further pledged to consolidate the gains of the outgoing administration led by Barr. (Mrs.) Mfon Ekong Usoro and vowed to strengthen the Institute’s mandate further by pursuing legislative backing among other initiatives.

Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, a former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, officially took over as President of CILT Nigeria from Mrs. Usoro in October 2025.

Earlier , the outgoing President, Mrs. Usoro, reflected on her transformative four-year tenure marked by significant achievements including branch expansion, regulatory compliance, strategic collaborations, digitization efforts, and enhanced governance and transparency.

She expressed gratitude for the support received during her term, during which CILT Nigeria deepened its national and international relevance through partnerships and expanded memberships.

 

Usoro , a former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA, noted that ‘Our Administration stopped the practice of remitting foreign currency to CILT International through friends and relatives overseas who were then reimbursed in local currency. We implement a strict process for transferring funds to CILT International via CILT Nigeria’s domiciliary accounts. ”

The Outgoing President Mrs. Mfon Ekong Usoro’s administration from October 2021 to November 2025 was marked by reform and transformation.

Key milestones included the establishment of new branches, particularly in northern Nigeria, regulatory regularizations with the Corporate Affairs Commission and Lagos State tax authorities, and enhanced governance with new financial controls.

Others include – Digitization efforts improved the Institute’s operations, including a revamped website and electronic elections. Partnerships with institutions like the Maritime Academy, Nigerian Army College of Logistics, and the Bureau for Public Procurement underpinned CILT’s growing influence

Strategic Focus and Future Directions the outgoing president highlighted successful strategic collaborations and a broadened national presence.

 

The administration’s legacy includes a membership base that grew annually and a reputation enhanced through international roles and active participation in global CILT forums

The leadership handover signals a renewed phase of growth and consolidation for CILT Nigeria under Dr. Oyeyemi’s presidency, building on the transformational groundwork laid by Mrs. Usoro.
