Okowa’s Aide Urges Chevron,Oil Multinationals To Promote Peace In Warri North

The Senior Special Assistant on Security to the Delta State Governor, SSA, Comrade Ezekiel Daniel on Wednesday, called on Chevron Nigeria Limited and other oil multinationals in the state to assist in building peaceful co-existence in Warri North Local Government Area.

 

Daniel made the plea while,introducing  himself to the people of Opuama and Sekelewu Communities in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

Daniel who spoke at a town hall meeting with indigenes of the two Communities, said,”I come to familiarise with you again my people, but this time with another capacity.

 

“Your good prayers have truely yielded result. I am now the senior special assistant to His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa,the Governor of Delta State.

 

“I know some of you may have heard it from afar but as a humble son, it is wise that I come to tell you as my fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters here at home.

 

“I succeeded because you stood firmly behind me .Your prayers, motivation and cooperation are still highly needed.

 

“I see you as part of me and my appointment as a collective responsibility.

 

“As most neglected and marginalized people in Warri North, we need development and more appointments both in federal and at the state levels.”

 

Daniel said the elders, women, youths and children drank polluted rainwater for two months as a result of the Chevron Well Fire in Polobubou and Sekelewu Communities in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State before it was put off.

 

According to him, Chevron Nigeria Limited failed to sympathize with the host and impacted Communities whose waters, lands and air were polluted as a result of the Chevron Well Fire.

 

“This is pathetic as it is capable of breaching peace in Warri North which the Government of Delta has been prevailing against.

 

“Chevron and other Oil Multinationals should help government of the State to build peace in Warri North.

 

”Oil companies that don’t want to cooperate with you, Delta State Government will prevail on them to ensure total compliance.”

 

He also advised that the Chevron Well Fire should be handled with all seriousness.

 

Daniel also enjoined youths to shun cultism,sea pirate and drug abuses and be serious with their education.

 

Daniel stressed, “As you know, education is the bed rock of modern society.

 

“Cultism destroys you as a youth. Education will not only enable you to seek for white collar job but will help you to become a complete human beings.

 

“It will make you to be self-employed and become a renounce person. It is beyond being rich and self-acclaim fames. It will make you to cross bothers and sit and dine with kings and queens.”

 

Daniel appealed to the people of the two Communities to work in synergy with the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa saying, “He is committed to the development, peace and security of lives and property in the State.”

 

Daniel who was familiarized himself with the people of the two Communities said, “I want you to constructively approach and remind the State Government of your needs and challenges when the need arises.

 

“You know that His Excellency (Dr) Ifeanyi is not a magician and until you bring your problem forward he may not be aware of it. I promise you of further engagements of this kind as we progress but we need to be more united than ever, that is when we can succeed in our collective resolves.”
