Ogun Explores Partnership With China For Olokola Deep Sea Port Development

 

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has confirmed productive discussions with the Mayor of Rizhao, Wang Xinsheng, focusing on collaboration for developing the Olokola Deep Sea Port, mineral exploration, and enhancing cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the State and Rizhao.

Following the meeting, Governor Abiodun visited the fully automated Rizhao Sea Port in Shandong Province, China, to assess its modern operations and efficiency. The port is recognized as one of Asia’s busiest and most technologically advanced maritime facilities.

Governor Abiodun described the visit as “truly insightful” and highlighted the potential for applying advanced technology and strategic planning to Ogun State’s Olokola Deep Sea Port project.

He stated that partnership with the Shandong Port Group, Rizhao Port’s owner, would enable the transfer of technical expertise to replicate a world-class port model in Ogun.

The Governor emphasized that the Olokola Deep Sea Port would be a landmark infrastructure in Nigeria, opening new opportunities for trade, investment, and industrial growth.

This initiative forms part of Ogun State’s broader strategy to become Nigeria’s gateway to prosperity and a key destination for global investment.

“After our meeting with the Mayor of Rizhao, we visited the fully automated Rizhao Sea Port to observe its efficiency and modern operations. The visit gave us valuable insights into what is achievable with advanced technology and strategic planning in port management.

During the port tour, Governor Abiodun and his delegation observed firsthand the efficiency of operations at Rizhao, regarded as one of the busiest and most technologically advanced ports in Asia.
