Edo State government has completed the set up of a fully mechanized 725-hectare of land for the cultivation of maize in Sobe, Owan West Local Govt Area in the State.
The project which is among 8 ongoing farms project spread across the State would see 145 farmers cultivating on 5 hectares each.
Obaseki who personally inspected the project site last week in preparation for taking off was impressed with the level of input and preparation on the ground.
Obaseki assured the farm would be fully mechanised with the support of the Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agriculture Lending (NIRSAL).
He stated that experts would help in the management of the farms and funding backed by the Central Bank.
Already residents of Sobe in Owan West have shown their excitement over the project.
Many who spoke to journalist agreed that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration has taken an interest in harnessing the vast agro potential of the state.
Some of the beneficiaries opined that the present agricultural revolution by Obaseki sweeping across the State would provide massive employment for Edo youths.
It was gathered that the Edo State government has lots of agricultural projects scattered around the State with the purpose of diversifying the State revenue sources.
