No Crisis In NAGAFF – Tanko Explains

The National Coordinator  , 100%  Compliance Team,  National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko has announced that there is no crisis in the Association following a report credited to the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KKT) Chapter Chairman, Engr. Emmanuel Umeadi over picketing Clarion Bonded Terminal without due process.

But responding at a press briefing on Wednesday, Alhaji Tanko stated that there was no crisis in the association as reported in some sections of the media

He explained that if there was crisis in the association, the founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam and National President, Tochukwu Esizi would not have gone with him to see the Customs Area Controller of Tincan in connection with the issue at hand.

According to him, what the team is out to unravel is how 19 40 feet containers disappeared from the terminal without traces saying the Customs officers in the terminal testified that they did not exit the containers.

On the claim that the bonded terminal falls within KLT jurisdiction, Tanko said the claim was not true, he said that the terminal fell under Tincan chapter

He maintained that before he carries out any operation, he always notifies the national president as well as the chapter chairman of any chapter he is going to carry out any operation.

He queried if Umeadi knows the limit of his jurisdiction

“If anyone in NAGAFF says he doesn’t know me, his membership of NAGAFF should be queried.

“Clarion is not under KLT, it is under Tincan. You need to know where you cover as a chapter chairman.

“We did not do anything wrong, we are only defending our members. There is no crisis in NAGAFF, we are one in NAGAFF,” he submitted.

Recall that Engr Umeadi had reportedly accused the compliance team of high handedness and usurpation of the office of national president of NAGAFF

He also accused the team leader for not informing him before taking such action knowing that the terminal is under the jurisdiction of his chapter

Part of the report stated that “This is to inform the general public that the continuous picketing of Clarion Bonded Terminal by NAGAFF 100% Compliance Team  led by Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko, is being done in bad fate.

“The allegation against the operators of the Bonded Terminal is likened to “giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it”.

“The KLT Chapter of NAGAFF wish to disabuse the minds of the freight forwarding community of this image tarnishing allegation, which in the actual sense, has no modicum of truth attached to it.

“Engr. Emmanuel  Umeadi, KLT Chapter Chairman of National Association of Government Approved Forwarders (NAGAFF), whose oversight function is extended to Clarion, has unequivocally condemned the picketing of Clarion Bonded Terminal by 100% Compliance Team without seeking his opinion, not only that, the whole exercise is roundly seen as an usurpation of power as the National President of NAGAFF, Chief Tochukwu Esisi and the NAGAFF high Command are likely not in the know of this unwarranted act of recklessness.

“However, the claim that 19 containers are missing from the terminal is nothing but mere subterfuge, as there is no atom of truth in the claim.”
