NLC Issues Seven-Day Strike Notice To FG, CBN On Cash Availability

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has issued seven-day strike notice to the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to make cash available to workers or be ready for a nationwide shutdown.

It also issued a ‘Stay At Home’ order to workers across the country.

NLC President, Joe Ajaero at an emergency media briefing in Abuja, the nation’s capital accused the Federal Government and CBN of deliberately creating crisis for workers and their families following inability to access their own funds in commercial banks.

The NLC boss equally warned against the unending fuel scarcity, which it said “simply shows the lack of political will by government of the day to solve the crisis in the country’s oil and gas industry”.

Ajaero equally sent a warning to the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma for his non-challant attitude towards workers and pensioners welfare.

The NLC boss asked the Federal Government to demand explanation from Governor Uzodinma on how 16,000 pensioners suddenly became ghost pensioners and 15,000 fully employed and documented workers eventually became ghost workers.

The Labour Centre also used the briefing to warn Governor Uzodinma that he will not get his way to suppress voters in Imo State during Saturday’s State House of Assembly polls, like was done during the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
