NIMASA, NPA Put Out Fire Onboard “MV Sea Voyager ” At Lagos Anchorage

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency on Thursday said combined efforts with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and other sister agencies helped to put out fire incident onboard MV. Sea Voyager at the Lagos anchorage south west Nigeria.

 

The apex maritime regulatory agencies further noted that all crew aboard are currently with operatives of the Nigerian Navy.

According to it official twitter account pointed out that : “NIMASA today (Thursday) coordinated the rescue of a tanker vessel “Sea Voyager” at the Lagos anchorage.

“The Regional Maritime Rescue Coordination Center RMRCC at kirikiri mobilized firefighters from other Agencies of Government including the NPA to put out the fire.

“The fire completely put out and all crew on board were successfully evacuated by the NigerIan Navy.

 

“All coordination was made by NIMASA from the Regional Maritime Rescue Coordination Center, MRCC, Kirikiri Lagos Nigeria.

 

“NIMASA Fast Intervention Vessel was  on standby for emergency evacuation.

 

Though NIMASA has not disclosed any details about the cause of the fire.

 

The Sea Voyager, previously known as Al Wahda, is operated by Nigeria’s Sea Transport Group. The oil products tanker was built at Korean Daedong shipyard in 1992.
