Nigeria Bolsters AfCFTA Strategy Ahead Of 14th WTO Ministerial Conference

Nigeria is ramping up its Africa Continental Free Trade Area AfCFTA implementation to sharpen its trade edge and amplify continental clout before the 14th World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference in Cameroon.

At the first quarter meeting of the AfCFTA Central Coordination Committee in Abuja, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole outlined a unified national strategy.

This,she said includes crafting firm positions on e-commerce, investment facilitation, and agriculture for WTO talks, all synced with AfCFTA goals.

The Minister stressed that the Committee is weaving AfCFTA rollout into Nigeria’s core development plans, targeting trackable gains by MC14. She spotlighted Nigeria’s push for digital trade and exports across its six geopolitical zones, while pledging steady economic footing through deeper African Union ties.

Oduwole noted, are fusing AfCFTA aims with WTO reforms to supercharge the continent’s global voice.

Nigeria plans to ramp up stakeholder input and data-driven policies, zeroing in on logistics, trade finance, and market insights to fuel transformation by 2026.

The government recommits to leading AfCFTA-driven reforms for lasting growth and tighter regional bonds.
