A faction of the National Council of Managing Director of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA) has called on port users and other critical stakeholders in the clearance of cargoes to take the advantage of the 14 days lockdown of Lagos State.
The association maintained that the Presidential order against the backdrop of the covid19 pandermic spread in Lagos, could serve as an advantage for shippers and freight forwarders to clear their consignments from the ports without decay.
Secretary General of NCMDLCA,Chief Festus Ukwu in statement on Tuesday , explained that with the period of lockdown , consignments can easily exit the ports to various destination without any form of delay as major highways in Lagos are free from the usual gridlock.
The customs agents reiterated that decongestion of the ports should be the right way to go in ensuring smooth port operations devoid of congestion and gridlock.
Ukwu said “I wish to advise all freight forwarders and customs brokers to use the opportunity of the government lockdown to evacuate their containers out of the ports.
“The Nigerian Customs Service are fully on ground, the gridlock have disappeared, the security agencies are highly friendly and very complaint to government directives .
“I urge every agent not to relent towards this regards to boost trade facilitation,”he added.
Meanwhile, the association ‘s Board of Trustee Chairman , Dr. Rauf Oladipo in a statement advised all members to not only embrace the POF collection but to abide by the lectures delivered by the representative at the seminar.
He also advised members to come out in mass to make the upcoming election a
success.
