NAGAFF Says 48Hrs Port Operations Achievable , Expresses Satisfaction Over Revamping Of CGC Conference

President , National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Tochukwu Ezisi on Friday, expressed satisfaction over the revamping of Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Conference innovation by Mr Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller General, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Recall that the CGC conference last held 2013 bringing it to a total of 13 years vacuum.
Ezisi who spoke with journalists at the close of the conference held at Lagos Continental Hotel Victoria Island, Lagos noted that with the quality of discussions, interactions and brainstorming sessions to addressing the bottlenecks in cargo clearance , revealed clear indications that customs management is ready to proffer lasting solutions to 48 cargo clearance and seamless port operations.
According to him, freight forwarders and licensed customs brokers are satisfied with the platform put together by management of the service adding that 2024 would be a year of problem solving in achieving 48 hours cargoes clearance from the port.
He said ” For the first time in thirteen years, I must say freight forwarders are happy because, issues discussed today received instant feedback and it’s not a matter of we will get back to you.
“The CGC has shown some level of seriousness in his three points agenda and I must commend him for reactivating the CGC Conference after thirteen years.
“We also look forward to a more robust meeting and conference aside this to further tackle other grey areas in customs processes and procedures.
Ezisi who was one of the panelist at the conference , affirmed that with the strategies and formulas put in place by the Adewale Adeniyi led customs management team, 48 hours clearance is achievable predicting also that by the end of 2024, the port community will testify to these achievements by the service.
The NAGAFF top man, stated that directives have been given tho tho CGC to all Deputy Comptroller to ensure compliance on issues bothering on alerts henceforth.
This , Ezisi said is already an achievement ahead of 48hours cargo clearance from the seaports.
He also affirmed that management of NAGAFF will continue to support the service in achieving 48 hours cargoes exit from the ports stressing that issues of multiple alerts from headquarters which slow down the process of cargo releases have been addressed .
