NAGAFF Sanctions Chapters Excos To Submit Operational Reports On Thursday Or Face Penalties

The President, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Tochukwu Ezisi has summoned all chapters executives across the six geopolitical zones to submit a comprehensive operational reports on or behalf Thursday 17th April 2025 or face stiff penalties from the national headquarters.

Ezisi gave the marching order on Monday, during the association ‘ s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Lagos.

The NAGAFF President who frowned at the lackluster attitude of chapters executives to give account of their stewardship over a given period , with exception to Onne Chapter, maintained that the national body will not hesitate to wade the big stick on any chapter that failed to submit their report on Thursday.

Reading the riot act to the chapters chairmen, the President quipped that the report should include welfare of members, membership drive, financial reconciliation with headquarters,event participation,chapter challenges , achievements, future plans for the Secretariat etc

According to him, the NEC meeting must serve as a catalyst for renewed action and a demonstration of collective resolve to build a stronger, more impactful NAGAFF with approach moving forward will be guided by key principles

Ezisi further told the well attended NEC members of the association that the national secretariat relies on the contributions and initiatives from the chapters to effectively implement its national agenda , hence the expansion .

He added that apathy in this regard not only hinders the association ‘s growth but also undermines the capacity to serve members effectively.

While urging all chapters executives to reassess their engagement and prioritize tangible investments in the future , the President reiterated that the meeting offers a vital opportunity to recalibrate strategies,and strengthen the foundations, which in turn will chart a clear and impactful course for the future of NAGAFF.

“We gather at a pivotal moment in our association’s journey. This is a time to honestly assess the path we have taken, acknowledge our achievements, and, most importantly, confront the challenges that impede our collective progress.

“Looking back, we can undoubtedly identify significant progress in advocating for our members, engaging with government agencies, and contributing to the growth and professionalism of the freight forwarding subsector within Nigeria’s marine and blue economy. We have weathered economic storms, navigated complex regulatory landscapes, and consistently strived to elevate our profession. These achievements reflect the dedication and hard work of many in our ranks.

“However, a candid review of our journey compels us to acknowledge certain realities that require our urgent attention. One area of concern is the evident lack of robust investment in NAGAFF by some of our Chapter Executives. The strength and sustainability of our association are intrinsically linked to the financial commitment and active participation of all its components.

Speaking further ,he added that:”Moreover, it has become clear that there is a varying degree of understanding among some of our National Officers regarding the expectations and responsibilities associated with their specific roles. Holding a national office is not merely a title; it is a call to dedicated service, strategic thinking, and proactive engagement. We must cultivate a culture of accountability and ensure that all National Officers are well-versed in their mandates and are actively contributing to our organizational goals. To this end, we will implement more robust induction processes and performance monitoring mechanisms to ensure clarity of roles and enhance effectiveness.

” Enhanced Chapter Engagement and Investment: We will initiate proactive dialogues with Chapter Executives to foster a deeper understanding of the importance of investment and participation in national initiatives. We will explore collaborative projects and resource mobilization strategies to ensure that all Chapters are actively contributing to the growth and financial stability of NAGAFF.

“Strengthened National Officer Accountability:
We will implement comprehensive induction programs for all newly appointed or elected National Officers, clearly outlining their roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations. Regular performance reviews will also be established to ensure accountability and identify areas for capacity building and support.

 

“Reinvigorated Committee Performance: We will review the mandates and composition of all standing committees to ensure their alignment with our overarching goals.

“Let us commit to these principles as we embark on this new chapter together,he appealed , Ezisi maintained
