NAGAFF: Oghagbon Steps Aside After 14yrs, As 2 New Women Leaders Emerge For Tin Can, PTML Chapters

After 14 years in office as Women Leader of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders(NAGAFF), Elder Mrs Kate Adesuwa Oghagbon has relinquished her position to her Deputy, Madam Uju Ebubedike.
Ebubedike is expected to continue from where her predecessor stopped for a period of six months, before an election would be conducted.
It would be recalled that Elder Oghagbon who was at the PTML chapter of the Association was appointed National Women Leader by the former National President of NAGAFF, Dr. Eugene Nweke.
According to a statement on Monday In her brief speech at the emergency meeting of the national officers of the women’s wing convened by her at the national headquarters of NAGAFF, Thursday 27th June,2024, Oghagbon said she considered it necessary to leave office in order to give opportunity for the younger ones to show case their ability, bring in new ideas that would take the group to enviable heights, as well as on age reasons.
She described her journey right from inception as the national women leader as tough, rough, having moved around western ports , Airport chapter, reached out to Eastern Ports, Onne in particular, Seme land border, canvassing for membership of the female freight forwarders into the women’s wing of NAGAFF with some of the female she appointed.
Elders Oghagbon popularly known as MAMA NAGAFF used the forum to thank the founder of the association, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam for the opportunity given her to serve and for his unflinching financial and moral support to the women coupled with his fatherly advice which was a big boost to them.
She however charged the new Interim National Women leader, NAGAFF, to pursue goals that would not only better the lots of women in the association, but would uplift the image of freight forwarding practitioners in the maritime Industry within the short period of her administration.
Mrs Oghagbon who is also a Board and Elders Council member of NAGAFF further urged her to eschew divisional tendencies, gossip, back stabbing, anger , intolerance, rather as a mother, she should run an inclusive, transparent, honest administration, fostering peace and unity of the group , while wishing her a successful administration.
Responding, the new NAGAFF Interim National Women leader, thanked MAMA NAGAFF for finding her worthy to pilot the affairs of the women and prayed God to bless her in all her endeavours, while soliciting for the cooperation and prayers of all the members for the success of her interim administration.
Speaking also, the National Deputy President of NAGAFF, headquarters, Fwdr. Simeon Nwonu who described women as pillars of any organisation commended the outgoing NAGAFF National Women Leader for her commitments, doggedness , resolute in building the women’s wing.
He congratulated the Interim New Women Leader, Uju Ebubedike to emulate good leadership examples of her immediate predecessor by fostering peace unity amongst the women , carry members of her executives along in the scheme of things as well as show equal love to all.
Highlights of the meeting were the appointment of Oby Oby Anthonia Nwachukwu as the Women leader, PTML Chapter, Deborah Virginia Ihedi, Tin Can Island, Chapter Women Leader, as well as special prayer sessions .
