NAFEST 2025: Over 5,000 Competitors To Participate  In Enugu

 

Enugu State is proud to announce it will host the 2025 National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), the world’s biggest cultural Olympics, from November 22 to 29, 2025.

According to a statement signed by Dr. Dennis Olofu, Head, Media, National Council for Arts & Culture the prestigious event, organized by the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), will celebrate Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage under the inspiring theme: “Connected Culture.”

At a recent meeting held at the Lion Building, Government House Enugu, NCAC Director General and CEO, Obi Asika, led a delegation of senior directors to discuss preparations with Enugu State Governor, His Excellency Peter Mbah, the Honorable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke, and other senior state officials.

Obi Asika expressed his enthusiasm saying:
“I am thrilled to return to Enugu, fondly known as 042, a city close to my heart. We have witnessed the remarkable progress under Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership and are grateful for his commitment to hosting NAFEST. Thanks also to Commissioner Dame Ugochi Madueke for her dedication to making this event a reality.

” Over 5,000 competitors from across Nigeria will experience a safe, secure, and unforgettable festival. Beyond the competition, visitors will explore Enugu’s stunning attractions like the canopy walkway at Nsugbe Pyramid, Ovu Lake Golf Resort, Nigeria’s first zipline at Ngwo Pine Forest, Africa’s highest cross at Okpatu, and the Akwuke Water Park. Enugu is ready to showcase its beauty and culture to Nigeria and the world.”

Governor Peter Mbah shared his excitement:
“Enugu is honored to host NAFEST 2025, and we are fully prepared. Our vision to grow Enugu’s economy and attract three million visitors annually is underway, with investments in infrastructure and tourism. This month, Enugu Air officially launches, and we are enhancing heritage sites such as Awhum Waterfalls and the canopy walk. With over 300 hotels, we look forward to welcoming Nigeria to celebrate our connected culture right here in Enugu.”

Honorable Minister for Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, also commented:
“I am delighted Enugu will host NAFEST and look forward to participating. Having witnessed the Governor’s vision firsthand, I congratulate Ndi Enugu and eagerly anticipate what promises to be a remarkable festival.”

About NAFEST 2025
Known as Nigeria and Africa’s Cultural Olympics, NAFEST 2025 will unite all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for a week-long celebration of music, dance, fashion, drama, crafts, indigenous cuisine, and traditional sports. Events will take place across multiple venues, including the iconic Opara Square and the International Conference Centre. Opara Square will host the grand opening and closing ceremonies, featuring performances by superstar artists.

NAFEST is a platform for competition, collaboration, and cultural exchange, highlighting Nigeria’s diverse heritage and collective identity.
