NAF Empowers Junior Cadres With Strategic Communication Skills For Modern Warfare

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a groundbreaking three-month Basic Information Young Officers Course (BIYOC) to empower its junior cadres—young officers—with essential skills for thriving in today’s information-driven and perception-sensitive warfare.

Kicking off on 18 January 2026 at the School of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force Institute of Administrative Management (NAFIAM) in Kaduna, this pioneering initiative features 11 dedicated participants: 10 Flying Officers and one Pilot Officer from NAF units across the nation.

According to a statement on Friday, this targeted empowerment aligns with the training-focused vision of Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke, DFS, whose Command Philosophy prioritizes capacity development for junior officers as a key driver of operational success.

In an era where narrative control and perception management define battlefields, BIYOC equips these young leaders with specialized competencies tailored to NAF’s operational, doctrinal, and institutional needs—marking a bold institutional shift toward junior cadre excellence.

During the course, Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Headquarters NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, delivered an interactive lecture on 21 January 2026, urging participants to embrace the training with intellectual rigor.

He emphasized that modern military communication for junior officers now spans journalism, media, scripting, photography, and videography—evolving into strategic narrative shaping that amplifies operational impact.

NAFIAM Commandant, Air Commodore Isaiah Taiwo, praised the session, affirming that empowering junior cadres in communication is vital for mission success, stronger civil-military ties, and sustained public trust in the NAF.
