“My Success Stories Won’t Be Complete Without Michael Ubogu” – Comrade Adeyanju

Comrade Adewale Adeyanju,the President General Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has expressed appreciation to the Chief Executive Officer, Micura Services Limited , High Chief Orobosa Michael Ubogu for his contribution to the industrial peace and harmony in port operations,saying that the foremost stevedoring contractor added values to the achievements recorded in the last eight years.

Adeyanju who spoke on Friday in Lagos, described Ubogu as a proactive stevedoring pundit who ensured that dockworkers are comfortable in their workplaces.

Describing dockworkers as the toughest group to manage in port terminal operations, the MWUN stated that the stevedoring expert adopted team spirit approach in addressing crisis and disputes among the labour force.

According to Adeyanju , the stevedoring expert is an unsung hero in port operations , hence the need to appreciate Ubogu for the support and humanity to the MWUN and the labour work force.

Adeyanju who is also the Deputy President Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) who advocated for other stevedoring contractors in Nigeria to emulate the good deeds of the Micura boss for workers progress , reiterated that the union activities centre on workers welfare and Ubogu has been instrumental in the last eight years in that regard.

He stressed that :”I want to thank my brother and friend,Chief Orobosa Michael Ubogu who has been kind to the system and to me.. He has been a wonderful dedicated ,committed friend and philanthropist . It’s not about giving money but about sitting down and connect with the person you are supporting. It’s about loyalty and assertiveness in all you do . So I want to thank him because he is a human being .

“If we have ten Micura in Nigeria port operations today, I will assure you that no dockworkers or NPA staff will suffer. Ubogu has been supporting me for the past twenty five years , he is a nice guy and may God continue to bless him. And anywhere we are we will continue to pray for him.

“He is not the only employer of labour we have in the nation’s maritime industry and when we are talking about stevedoring company in Nigeria today, I think he’s the best we have around who believe in the welfare of workers .

“I must say that he complemented our success story together with his own , because this is somebody that negotiated welfares of workers on behalf of the union with employers.

“Ubogu was also able to give workers revolving loans when necessary . Now my question is how many stevedoring contractors can do what Michael Ubogu is doing today?

Adeyanju added that Micura Services Limited believed so much in stevedoring activities in Nigeria adding that dockers deserve the best in terms of wages and salaries.

“I must say that Michael Ubogu is part of my success story.”, the union leader maintained.
