MWUN Mourns Former Vice President General, Comrade Chris Idagbonre

Comrade Chris Eromosele Idagbonre of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has passed away after a brief illness.

Comrade Chris served as Vice President-General (VPG) of the Union until his retirement in 2025, following more than 25 years of meritorious service.

A pragmatic trade unionist, his career began at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in Lagos, where he represented the NPA Branch of the MWUN with an unblemished record.

According to a statement on Monday, Chris was a committed executive member, passionate about labour matters and known for his good heart toward humanity, his contemporaries, colleagues, and Union members.

Even MWUN President-General, Comrade Francis Buna Abi, was quoted attesting to his selfless service, describing him as “a man one can always think with in terms of conflict resolution.”Funeral arrangements will be announced later by his immediate family.

The Union prays that his gentle soul rests in perfect peace.
