MWUN Lauds Two Companies Over Seafarers Improved Remuneration , Facilitates Muslims At Eid Malud

 

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the leadership of Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, the President – General of the Union has thumbed up the managements of Orion Marine Services Limited and Sea Transport Ltd, respectively over the unprecedented increment of salaries for members, who are sailors employed by the companies after a new review of the sailors remuneration, given the compliance of the National Joint Industrial Council work book, the NJIC.

This total compliance of the NJIC was achieved by both managements of Orion and Sea Transport and the leadership of the Union in good faith as putting the sailors welfare has always been the arrow head of Comrade Bunu’s administration since assuming PG of MWUN few months back after his landslide electoral victory.

However, while Comrade Bunu signed the NJIC agreements, the veteran sailor, maritime expert and astute administrator commended both managements for having at heart the welfare of their various employees by putting smiles on their faces; stressing that its only when the workers are happy would employers record optimum satisfaction in the sector.

“Both companies situated in Apapa, Lagos, have shown good examples of what good managements should look, while the pragmatic labour leader signed the NJIC documents,” he noted .

The PG of the Union called on other companies in the maritime sector to emulate Orion and Sea Transport in paying worthy salaries as both Companies are not operating from the moon; therefore, they should be prepared to comply to avert the wrath of the Union; saying that such defaulting companies in the sector would be made known to the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA)

Meanwhile, the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria has felicitates all muslims across the world on this year’s celebration of Prophets Muhammad birthday (Peace be Unto Him) Nigeria and across the globe.

The pragmatic leader of the Union seized the occasion of the birthday to eulogies muslim faithful in Nigeria thanking them for their resilience in the face of hardship, and financial crisis; while demonstrating sincere love and charity towards neighbors, family members, colleagues, and amongst members of same faith, Christians inclusive as preached by the Prophet while on earth according to Islamic injunctions as recorded in the Holy Quran.

Comrade Bunu said the society can’t be peaceful if we as brothers and sisters of all religions cannot love each other; hence our peaceful coexistence will not be guaranteed, because “Peace” and “love” amongst all, is one of the major tenets of Islam.

The MWUN PG further stressed that Islam is religion of peace, therefore abhors violence amongst humanity believing that all human race are creatures of Almighty Allah, hence we must love each other noting that we are from same source of life.

He, however, praised all Muslims communities across the country and beyond, saying that their patience towards one another would help the country to solve the numerous questions of insecurity that’s threatening Nigeria as a country and the entire global village.

He further advised Muslims to be tolerant at all times, reflecting on the Prophet’s birthday, who lived exemplary life; doing good, eschewing rancor and bitterness, and quick to forgiveness, as such were the supreme qualities of the Almighty Allah; whilst congratulating all the Muslims on this day.
