MWUN Lauds SIFAX Group Over Improved Welfare Packages For Dockworkers In 2020

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has lauded efforts of port concessionaire, Ports and Cargo Handling Services (PCHS), a subsidiary of SIFAX Group for its exemplary performance in ensuring  better welfare packages and other incentives for dockworkers were satisfactory in 2020.

 

According to a letter of appreciation, sighted by our correspondent on Wednesday, the union commended efforts of the Chief Executive Officers of SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi , even as it reiterated the huge  improvements of the concessionaire on workers welfare .

 

The letter signed by the President General of the union, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju stated that the high moral standard and pursuit of happiness of workers by the concessionaire last year is worthy of emulation by others.

Adeyanju adjudged the concessionaire as the best terminal operator of the year 2020, pointing out that through feedback mechanism by the dockworkers in all the terminals nationwide on welfare packages, Ports and Cargo Handling Services deserved an award.

He also assured the SIFAX boss of the union’s commitment to support the concessionaire in ensuring that port operations and the maritime industry attain its place of excellence in the Africa continent.

 

The union boss also commended other terminal operators for the support and welfare packages of workers but urged the concessionaires to prioritize incentives of dockworkers, as part of efforts to create a conducive and competitive environment for ports and terminal operations in Nigeria.

 

 

 

The statement reads : “On behalf of myself and the entire membership of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, I wIsh to appreciate you and your Managements for the improvements you have brought to bear in the maritime sub sector or the nation s economy.

“Indeed, your management style is worthy of emulation by other terminal operators in the industry. We appreciate your high moral Standard and your pursuit of justice and equality in all human endeavours.

 

 

 

“We the members of the union in consideration of the foregoing adjudged you as the BEST TERMINAL OPERATOR of year 2020.
