MWUN Achievements Beyond Shores Of Nigeria – Egyptian Union

The Maritime Workers’ Union of Egypt has expressed satisfaction over the leadership style of Comrade Adewale Adeyanju management led team of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) saying that cooperation from both countries  could help solve labour related problems in Africa.

These submissions made known on Tuesday by the Egyptian union executives while speaking during a farewell and souvenir sharing event organised for the visitors, by the MWUN .

They further affirmed that MWUN achievements in labour matters are beyond the continent of Africa .

Members of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Egypt to Nigeria, called on the Nigerian union that the African Union should strengthen ties to make unionism seamless in the continent.

The 5-man executive took turn to express their happiness over the meeting of the two unions , even as they described the visit  as being very important and an avenue to open global window for the unionism.

They reaffirmed their commitment towards ensuring that executives MWUN do same by visiting Egypt adding that the process on visa approval for those willing to travel would start in earnest.

“We should strengthen ties between Nigeria and Egypt. We are going to send official invitation to you to come to Egypt.

“I am happy that we made new friends. We witnessed cooperation between the two unions and this is very important to us.

“With cooperation, we can overcome all the problems and issues in labour sector.”

The Egyptian delegation was led by Comrade Mohammed Hassan Mohamed Khalifa, Deputy President General of Maritime Workers’ Union of Egypt.

Others are; Comrade Ahmed Helmy Ahmed Abdelrahman, Comrade Fahmy Award Mohamed Elsheshtwy Sakr, Mr. Mahmoud Fouad Mahmoud and Mr. Tarek Gad Aly Abdelrehim.

Earlier, Comrade Adeyanju who was represented at the event by Comrade Tonye Harry, a Deputy President General of the union informed that the union would latch on the visit to add global value to maritime labour activities.

“The meeting is very important seeing the similarity between Nigeria and Egypt moreso, the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria and Maritime Workers’ Union of Egypt. This is to say globally that the workforce as directed by the union is the same as in Egypt and Nigeria.

“Their visit to Nigeria is an eye opener that under the leadership of Comrade Adeyanju, the achievements of MWUN is not only in Nigeria but has gone global. That is why the Egyptian union found it necessary to come and see how we operate in MWUN.

“The jobs we do are the same. It is just for us to add global value to what we are handling and I think their coming has also opened the eyes of the leadership of Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria particularly our President General who is a workaholic.

“Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria has benefitted good relationship from the visit of this our counterpart from Egypt. It has started and I believe it is going to continue,”Harry stressed.
