Multiple Truck Crash Cripples Otedola Bridge, Snarls Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A serious multiple-vehicle collision involving three trucks erupted on Otedola Bridge around 5:55 a.m. today, sparking massive gridlock that has stretched all the way to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

A statement from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), revealed on Friday.

Emergency response teams from FRSC alongside other traffic agencies, are on the scene working around the clock to remove the wreckage and restore normal flow on the bridge.

Authorities are urging motorists to remain patient and exercise extreme caution in the area. Drivers have been warned against driving against traffic and to strictly follow all regulations to avoid additional incidents.

The FRSC announced that it appreciates public cooperation as efforts continue to clear the chaos and get vehicles moving smoothly again.

The statement reads: “A multiple-vehicle collision involving three trucks occurred on Otedola Bridge at about 0555hrs today, January 23, 2026.

‘ The gridlock has extended to Lagos -Ibadan expressway.

“The FRSC, in collaboration with other traffic agencies, is working diligently to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow on the bridge. We urge members of the public to exercise patience and caution while driving, especially in the affected area.

“In the meantime, we advise drivers to avoid driving against traffic ,and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further crashes . We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to get the traffic flowing smoothly again.,”the statement said.
