The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association has announced the closure of the national secretariat and other zonal offices across the country over the Coronavirus Pandemic.
According to a statement made available to DAILYFOCUS NEWS on Wednesday,and signed by its National President, Comrade Bob Yousou , said the decision was reached after an online conference in respect to the dreaded virus.
The statement noted that “After the online conference deliberations of our Association NEC in respect to the current Covid 19 pandemic.The President said at the end of the meeting the following resolutions were reached; that the safety of life of members and staff is very paramount that have to abide by both the Lagos State & National guidelines as directed by World Health Organization (WH0) on corona virus control.
He said that gathering and body contact aids the spread of the deadly virus, adding that the world economy is almost short down so as to prevent spread of the virus.
The statement further said “To this end, the National President, Comrade Eng. Bob Joseph Yousuo, of our great Association hereby declares work from home for 14days effective 25 March 2020.The National Secretariat & all Zonal Council offices of our Association are hereby closed for business.
“He thereby implore all our members and staff to adhere strictly to the preventive measures as advised by the relevant authorities during this trying time.
“However, I appeal to all stakeholders to bear with us as inconvenience is highly regretted.”
