Marine Police Rescues Four Passengers From Sea Pirates Attack In Bayelsa.

No fewer than four persons were rescued from a possible attack by daredevil sea robbers within the Bayelsa state inland waterways, the police authority has stated.

 

Operatives of the marine department Bayelsa police command disclosed that it foiled an attack on a passengers boat and rescued four passengers along the Nembe/Brass River.

 

Spokesman for the state police command Asinim Butswat made this known in a statement made available to  newsmen on Friday.

He said operatives of the command on patrol along the waterways came under attack by sea pirates who were robbing passengers and attempted to kidnap some of them in a speed boat.

The operatives according to the police repelled the attack and subdued the pirates who fled into the creeks with bullet wounds before rescuing the passengers.

 

The pirates however abandoned their speedboat with one military camouflage, one bullet proof jacket and one cutlass.

 

The commissioner of police Ben Okolo has ordered the state Criminal Investigation Department to carry out a discreet investigation to unravel the identity of the sea pirates.
