MARGINALISATION: Delta Community Issues Seven- Day Ultimatum To Seplat , Heritage Oil Firms

Management of Heritage and Seplat Oil firms have been issued aย  seven day ultimatum to meet with workers demands or consider their “manifolds” shutdown.

 

 

This threat was made known by workers from theย  Ugbokodo-Okpe Community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State on Monday .

The Community handed down the seven day ultimatum during a peaceful protest by its indigenes comprising Women, youths and unemployed graduates.

Indigenes of the Community who beared placards with different inscriptions protested over an alleged neglect by the two oil firms.

The protesters were led by Messrs Sunday Oduthe, Richard Ogele, President of the Community and youth leader respectively as well as the Woman Leader Mrs. Esther Ogele.

 

They demanded that the Companies includes them(indigenes) in direct employment,empower its women, gives scholarship to indigent students as well as build a civic centre amongst other things for them.

 

At the time of this report officials of the two companies were not around and as such no official statement has been released to the effects.

 

The protesters are still chanting solidarity songs near the companies gate.
