MARAN Annual Maritime Lecture Takes Place On Thursday

All is now is now set for the   much-anticipated MARAN Annual Maritime Lecture which comes up  Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the prestigious Providence Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos. by 10 am.

The event, themed “AfCFTA: Dismantling Trade Barriers, Navigating Regional Trade,” promises to provide in-depth insights into Africa’s Free Trade Agreement and its implications for regional and global commerce.

In a statement, the President of the association, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere said MARAN Annual Maritime Lecture will convene key stakeholders, policy makers, and experts from across the maritime and trade sectors to discuss strategies for maximizing the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).

The Special Guest of Honour, the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, will deliver a keynote address, underscoring the Federal Government’s initiatives and commitment to dismantling trade barriers and fostering a competitive blue economy.

According to him, the event will also feature prominent dignitaries, including: Olusegun Awolowo, Secretary, AfCFTA Nigeria, Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa, renowned maritime expert and former Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA); Muda Yussuf, an eminent economist and the CEO of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE);

Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of Customs, who will serve as the Guest of Honour.

Participants  are to expect robust  and engaging discussions, expert-led panels, and  deliberations on how Nigeria and other African nations can fully capitalize on AfCFTA to enhance trade competitiveness, attract foreign investment, and boost economic growth.
