Gov. Makinde Flags Off 21Km Construction Of Airport Road

The Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has officially flagged off the construction of the twenty-one-kilometres Airport Road – Ajia – New Ife Express Road with Spur to Amuloko Road Project.

The governor in his address made it known that the twenty-one-kilometres Airport – Ajia – New Ife Express Road with a spur to Amuloko under the Alternative Project Funding Aproach (APFA) is a result of the current administrations’ strategic ways of reducing infrastructure deficit in the state.

He added that (APFA) is a way of funding some infrastructural projects in the state by having the contractors fund the projects with their own money while the state repays them over a period of time.

The twenty-one-kilometers road was awarded to Messrs Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Ltd at a total cost of Eight Billion, Five Hundred and Twenty Million, Nine Hundred and Nineteen Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Six Naira, Forty-One Kobo (N8,520,919,776.41) with the mandate to complete the road within eighteen months.

While reacting to the criticism that trailed on the comparism of the cost of the contract for the Airport-Ajia road and that of Moniya-Iseyin road, the Governor made it known that both road are incomparable.

He noted that the roads may appear longer than each other, but the Airport-Ajia road has more hydraulic structures which reflect in the cost of the project.
