LGAs Tenure Expiration: Tambuwal Appoints Caretakers

Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has approved the appointment of twenty-three caretakers of  local government areas (LGAs) in the state.

This, according to the Secretary to State Government (SSG), Muhammad Mainasara Ahmad, in a statement from Muhammad Bello,Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the Governor , on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in Sokoto, follows the expiration of the tenure of those hitherto in charge of the LGAs in the state.

 

Ahmed said: “consequent to the expiration of tenure of local government councils as provided under Local Government (Amendment) Law No. 6 of 2016, the state Governor has approved the appointment of the following as Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the 23 local government areas pending the conduct of the Local Government election.”

Those appointed are:  Wadata Muhammad- Binji LGA, Shehu Muhammad- Bodinga LGA, Umar Buda- Dange/Shuni LGA, Abdul-Wahab Yahaya- Goronyo LGA, Aminu A. Aya- Gwadabawa LGA, Abubakar Yusuf Dan-Ali- Isa LGA, Yahaya Abdullahi Gandi- Rabah LGA and Jafaru Hamza- Kware LGA.

Others are : Umaru Danyaro- Sabon Birni LGA, Bello Muhammad Gunki- Silame LGA , Aliyu Dantani Shagari- Shagari LGA, Mustapha Shehu Sokoto- Sokoto North LGA, Faruku Abdulrahman Sayudi- Sokoto South LGA, Nasiru Babata- Tambuwal LGA, Ibrahim Muhammad Lawal- Tangaza LGA,Abubakar Salihu- Tureta LGA, Bello Abubakar Gwiwa- Wamakko LGA, Lawal Marafa Fakku- Kebbe LGA, Abdulkadir Arzika Wurno- Wurno LGA, Garba Yakubu Tsitse- Gada LGA, Aliyu Shehu Illela- Illela LGA, Bello Wakili Bachaka- Gudu LGA, Haliru Abubakar Kilgori- Yabo LGA.

The SSG also stated that “the appointment takes effect from 11th April, 2023.

“In the same vein, the state Governor has also approved the reconstitution of the Caretaker Councillors for the 23 local government areas, the appointments of which will be formalized in due course,” the SSG explained.
