Lekki Port Commences Poaching Of Workers From TCIP, LPC , Onne , Others

Fresh facts have emerged that a large number of port and terminal workers at Tin Can Island Port, Lagos Port Complex  and Onne, Rivers State will start occupational migration to the newly built Lekki deep seaport.

Investigations by DAILY FOCUS Nigeria last week, revealed that the poaching process has already began ahead of the commencement date of the Lekki Freeport Terminal .

The terminal is expected to commence operations in September 2022, with at least ten Rubber Tyre Gantry RTG and four mobile cranes.

Our correspondent confirmed that the heavy  equipment are expected to berth at the Lekki terminal from China at the end of second quarter of the year.

Sources told our correspondent that the equipment may arrive the terminal at the end of June precisely.

Speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of Lekki FreePort Terminal, Mr  Denrick Moos stated that the organisation runs an open door policy saying that the company has an opened door policy for job seekers from Apapa, Tincan and other ports in the country to flood the head office of the organisation seeking for job placements.

His words, “By September, we will be 658 staff which is a massive employment because it is almost every week that we have new intakes

“Some.of the dockworkers you see downstairs are your members who have come for assessment.”

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria had earlier reiterated for fairness,  equity and commitment in ensuring that the employment cut across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
