LATE BANK – ANTHONY’S ESTATE: Family Disowns Self Acclaimed Trustees

The family of late Sir Mobolaji Bank- Anthony has disclaimed one Queen Irene Cole and some of her associates parading themselves to be trustees of the estate of their late father.

The family therefore urged members of the public to be weary of the antics of the self acclaimed trustees, saying they do not have the permission or the authority to represent the Bank-Anthony family.

According to the family, anyone who enters into any business transaction with the said Queen Irene Cole in regards to the Bank- Anthony estate does so at their peril.

It will be recalled that Queen Irene Cole had recently addressed a press conference in Lagos, where she claimed to be the Godmother and  Attorney of the beneficiaries wealth of the renowned late sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony.

But while addressing a press conference in Lagos on Thursday on behalf of the family via zoom, a grandson Mr. Babatunde Oluwajimi Bank-Anthony disclosed that their late grandfather left a clear and comprehensive last Will &; Testament at the time of his death in 1991 which depicts his last wishes.

According to Babatunde, the Will & Testament stated that his Estate be governed and run by a list of his chosen trustees.

He emphasized that the list did not include anyone named Queen Irene Cole neither did it also include some of her partner.

Babatunde, who listed the names of the entire family of late Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony to include Oremi Bank-Anthony, Daughter), Bolaji Bank-Anthony (Daughter),  Funmilayo Bank-Anthony (Grand daughter), Durorike Bank-Anthony (Grand niece) and Babatunde Oluwajimi Bank-Anthony (Grand son), alleged that a grand niece identified as Funmiade who is not a beneficiary of the estate conspired with Queen Irene Cole to forge some documents and obtained a court judgement in respect of the Estate through false misrepresentation.

He however said the judgement is being challenged at the court of Appeal.

He words, Queen Irene Cole and her cohorts, who we as a family do not know have spent the last couple of years attempting to insert themselves in the Estate and properties of the late Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony.

Queen Irene Cole has continually claimed her relationship to the Bank-Anthony  family and has through various methods obtained a court which is currently being legally challenged by the family and the Estate.

Queen Irene Cole was never in a relationship with Sir Bank-Anthony let alone has a child with him. Sir Bank-Anthony was blessed with four children namely Omosheri Bank-Anthony (Deceased), Ajibike Bank-Anthony (Deceased), Oremi Bank-Anthony and Bolaji Bank-Anthony.

” Queen Irene Cole and her partners are simply in a bid to race against time. They hope they can get to the Funds of the Estate before an Appeal hearing, but as a family will ensure they will not succeed.

” They initially got a judgement due to misrepresentation of facts to the court during the filing process, the name of a beneficiary has been altered to match the name of one of the beneficiaries stated in the Will. They have tried everything and anything possible to try to get their hands on the funds of the Estate. The judgement they are parading around is dated 5th August 2020, but subsequently the case was referred to the Court of Appeal on 5th November 2021.

“A notice of Appeal has been put forward and we presently waiting for an Appeal date”, Babatunde claimed.

While reacting to a petition allegedly wrote and signed by one Kayode Fasetire Esq to the Inspector General of Police on behalf of the beneficiaries of an attack, Babatunde distanced the family from it, but believed the lawyer is an associate of Queen Irene Cole.

“We the Beneficiaries never wrote or signed any petition. We do not know who Kayode Fasetire Esq is ( but believed he is associated to Queen Irene Cole). This is simply misconstrued to say ” the beneficiaries alleged”, we the Beneficiaries have not had any dealings with Kayode Fasetire”, he said.

A grandson who was physically present at the press conference who identified himself as Mohammed Abubakar Akintunde claimed that he was sometime invited by Funmiade and Queen Irene Cole to a meeting, where he was promised to be made a trustee by the duo, but declined.

” Queen Irene Cole is a Godmother to Funmiade who is not one of the beneficiaries. They invited me to a meeting and Cole said she will make me a trustee and Funmiade. I asked her to relate with other family members and I left”, he claimed.
