LASWA Rescues Man Who Jumped Into Water From Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge

Divers from the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) on Tuesday, rescued an unidentified man who jumped from the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge at about 6pm local time in Lagos, South West Nigeria.

According to LASWA , a sister government agency had alerted the waterways authority on the incident which in turn led to the prompt response of divers to comb and rescue the victim alive.

LASWA via it’s Twitter handle @talktolaswa explained the victim has been handed over to Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA for proper check

The statement’s read: ” We were alerted by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) that a man had jumped into the water from the Lekki-Ikoyi Link bridge this evening, our divers were sent to carry out rescue operations immediately.

.The rescue operation was carried out successfully, and the man has been handed over to the LASEMA team for all the necessary checks and procedures.

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency will continue to work closely together to ensure that adequate and prompt response is provided in emergency situations on our inland waterways.
