LASG Reopens Two Recreational Parks,Urges Visitors To Observe COVID-19 Protocols

The Lagos State Government has reopened two of its recreational parks for public use after several months of closure due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The General Manager of Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), Mrs. Adetoun Popoola, announced the development, saying that necessary arrangements are in place to ensure adherence to the safety protocols prescribed by the State and Federal governments.

Popoola said both parks now available for public use are the Ndubuisi Kanu Park in Alausa and the Dr. Abayomi Finnih Park, Oregun, both in Ikeja, stating that the number of occupants of the parks is restricted to 150 and 100 respectively.

“The number of visitors allowed in Nudubuisi Kanu Park is limited to 150 persons while only 100 people will be allowed at Dr. Abayomi Finnih Park in Oregun with strict observance of guidelines including physical distancing, use of face masks, temperature checks and washing of hands with soap and running water”, Popoola said.

The LASPARK GM stated that children below five and adults over 65years of age are advised to stay away from the parks, revealing that all play items and games which involve physical contact will also not be operational in the parks until further notice.

While maintaining that other public recreational parks in various parts of the State are still being assessed for reopening, Popoola gave an assurance that the public will be notified immediately there are further developments.

“The Agency will ensure strict compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines and other safety precautions. We are all responsible for our individual personal hygiene. People should please stay home if they do not feel well or have any symptoms of COVID-19 infection”, the General Manager said.
