Lagos State  Health District IV Kicks Start 2nd Round 2025 National Immunization Plus Day 

The Lagos State Government in collaboration with National Primary Health Care  Development Agency and key partners have concluded  plans to implement National Immunization plus days in June 2025.

The agency has recommended that national immunisation plus days campaign should be implemented using the advocacy communication and social mobilisation strategy for house to house polio vaccination exercise for all children aged 0 to 59 months in all the settlements and communities in Lagos State.

According to a statement by Oputeh Michael ,

Public Affairs Officer , Lagos State health District IV over the weekend, the campaign aims to vaccinate all children aged 0 to 5 years with two drops of the oral polio vaccine regardless of their previous vaccination status to prevent poliomyelitis that may result in paralysis of the limbs or death.

The Permanent Secretary Lagos State Health District IV Dr Abimbola Bowale, was quoted  explaining that throughout the immunisation period dedicated healthcare workers under health district IV will move across various communities in Lagos Island, Mainland, Surulere, and Apapa Local Government, Lagos Island East , Apapa Iganmu, Itire Ikate , Yaba and Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area, school’s, worship centres, markets and other public places ensuring that every eligible child vaccinated.

Dr. Abimbola Bowale, emphasised the importance of the campaign in halting the transmission of the circulating variant poliovirus and protecting every child under the age of five from the dangers of polio meningitis, a condition that lead to permanent disability or even death.

The permanent secretary Lagos State Health District IV, appealed to parents and caregivers to seize the opportunity to protect their children, highlighting that immunisation not only shields the individual child but also fortifies the health and immunity of the wider community.

Dr Bowale stressing the importance of full coverage, he noted that by safeguarding every child, the Lagos State government was safeguarding the future of all Lagosians, while assuring that the vaccine are safe, free and highly effective.
