Lagos State Export Promotion Committee Unveils Strategic Roadmap For Economic Growth

The Lagos State has expressed commitment towards advancing the non-oil export agenda, in line with improving economic opportunities, and addressing critical barriers to international trade growth.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Olugbemiga Aina,who presided over a meeting with the Lagos State Export Promotion Committee (LSEPC), at the Ministry’s conference room, recently, said the Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu was eager to boost the economy through exportation of made in Nigeria products.

He stated that “The meeting was a cornerstone in advancing the State’s non-oil export agenda, improving economic opportunities, and addressing critical barriers to export growth.”

In his opening remarks, Dr. Aina underscored Lagos State’s unparalleled role in Nigeria’s economic narrative, contributing 30 percent to the nation’s GDP.

He emphasised the importance of developing a robust export strategy to diversify the nation’s economic portfolio, currently dominated by crude oil.

“Our vision is clear—establish actionable roadmaps, set measurable targets, and foster effective partnerships with key stakeholders,” he stated, highlighting the untapped potential of sectors like agriculture to drive the State’s export objectives.

The Permanent Secretary stressed the need for inclusive engagement, from MSMEs to international export giants, while championing regular committee meetings to promote collaboration, enhance knowledge sharing, and resolve funding challenges.
