Lagos Red Cross Hails Volunteers’ Resilience On World Red Cross Day

The Lagos State Branch of the Red Cross Society has celebrated World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day today Friday May 8 2026 under the theme “United in Humanity,” honouring volunteers for their selfless service amid challenges.

Branch Chairman Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Adebola Kolawole praised members for their “unwavering commitment, sacrifices dedication, resilience, love, perseverance, and maturity” in humanitarian work.

She highlighted their exemplary conduct during the recent Measles Rubella Project, where thousands showed patience, discipline, and unity despite payment delays affecting 13 divisions.

According to her,”This singular act truly reflects the spirit of our global theme ‘United in Humanity,'”

Dr. Kolawole said in a statement., that”Your conduct has shown that the Red Cross spirit is deeply rooted in compassion, sacrifice, and service to vulnerable communities.”

She extended appreciation to volunteers, divisional officers, coordinators, instructors, executives, and members for keeping “the flag of humanity flying high across Lagos State,” urging continued unity and adherence to the Red Cross Movement’s Fundamental Principles.

of Ikotun Division, echoed the sentiment, celebrating the global organization’s 163rd year. “I celebrate everyone today for your service in humanity,” she said. “May the spirit of humanity never depart from you all.”
