Lagos Lawmaker  Commiserates With Udumukwu family, Imo Community

Member, Lagos State House of Assembly representing Oshodi/Isolo constituency II, Hon Jude Chukwuemeka Idimogu has consoled the  family of Late Chief (Hon) Hilary Ifeanyichukwu Udumukwu of Ihitte/Uboma in IMO State.

 

Udumukwu who died in February was buried on the 23rd of April in his home town, Umudike, Eluama-Abueke, in Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State.

A Pharmacist, politician and community leader, Udumukwu was elected a Member, Imo State House of Assembly in 1983, served as the Executive Chairman of Ihitte/Uboma Local Government from 1994 to 1996. He also served in the Imo State Executive Council as Special Adviser on Project Monitoring from 1999 – 2002 and as a Member, Imo State Elders’ Council.

According to a statement on Friday, Idimogu who was unavoidably absent at the burial due to some state commitments urged the family  to take solace in the Lord on the fact that the late Udumukwu lived a life worthy of emulation.

 

According to Idimogu, Udumukwu was a devoted Christian who advocated peace and love not only in Imo State, Ihitte/Uboma and Okigwe zone but also in the community.

 

Extolling the ideologies of the late Udumukwu, Idimogu described him as a patriotic leader and builder who always put the interest of the people first.

The law maker however described his death as a loss to the community particularly at this time when his fatherly advice was needed.

According to the law maker, Udumukwu was among the few that remained resolute in his vision for the state.

 

The Imo State Deputy Governor, Prof Placid Njoku described his death as a shocking loss, not only to Eluama-Abueke Community, in Ihitte/Uboma, Local Government Area but also to his large body of friends and associates who will remember him for his humility, as well as humorous and peaceful disposition.

 

Special Adviser to the  Imo State government on Energy and Power and the Coordinator of Hilary Udumukwu Ihitte/Uboma Elites Burial Committee, Hon Sam Nwaire said that Udumukwu came at a time when Ihitte/Uboma needed leadership most, and he made himself available.

 

 

“And one thing outstanding about him was he was a very dedicated, dogged fighter, a man who belived in equity, a man who fought for his people.

“His death has brought a kind of unity that today Ihitte/Uboma sons and daughters have come together to give respect to a  worthy son of theirs,’ he said.

 

Member, representing Ihitte/Uboma in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Michael Njoku described him as a steadfast leader who had maintained his stand on justice and fair play urged his children and loved ones to build on his legacies.

 

“Udumukwu had done so much that needed to be improved on as one of the founding fathers of Ihitte/Uboma. Without people’ like him, there wouldn’t be Ihitte/Uboma, we would together guide those legacies.
