Lagos Kicks Off Landlord Cheque Payments For Okokomaiko Blue Line Depot Acquisition

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has reached a significant milestone in its commitment to residents affected by the Blue Line Rail extension project.

Following the successful conclusion of compensation payments to affected tenants, the Authority has now commenced the disbursement phase for landlords.

According to a statement, this transition underscores the government’s resolve to ensure fair, transparent, and timely compensation for all impacted stakeholders.

The process officially began recently with the presentation of cheques to landlords who have completed the required documentation and verification procedures for the Blue Line Depot land acquisition.

Duly enumerated property owners received their payments as part of this carefully coordinated exercise.

The compensation process is being overseen by Dr. Babatunde Osho, Managing Director of Global Impact Environmental Consulting, in close collaboration with LAMATA officials.

This initiative forms a critical component of the broader Blue Line Rail project, which is steadily progressing toward its anticipated completion in the first quarter of 2027.
