Lagos Island LG /LCDA Chairmen , Health District IV Pledge To Run 24 Hours Healthcare Operations
The Lagos Island Local Government and Local Council Development Area chairmen alongside Lagos State Health District IV management, have reaffirmed commitment to primary healthcare improvement saying plans are afoot to begin 24 hours services.
According to a statement, by Oputeh Michael, Public Affairs Officer disclosed that at a meeting with Lagos State Health District IV management, led by Permanent Secretary Dr. Abimbola Bowale, thanked the chairmen for their ongoing support and investments in the primary healthcare centres, highlighting their positive impact on community health.
During the visit to the island.Dr. Bowale promised that the centres would soon operate 24 hours to provide uninterrupted medical services.
He also congratulated the council leaders on their recent electoral victories.Hon. Muibi Alade Folawiyo, Chairman of Lagos Island East, pledged to collaborate with the health district to upgrade all primary healthcare centres on the island to the standards of Lagos State general hospitals.

On his part, Folawiyo also reported registering 350 residents under the free Ilera Eko programme and providing financial support for those unable to pay hospital bills. Additionally, he confirmed plans to form a taskforce to boost immunisation efforts for children across Lagos State.
Folawiyo was recently honoured as the best chairman on road and infrastructure in Nigeria.
Similarly, Hon. Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan, Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government, expressed his commitment to investing in primary healthcare centres within his jurisdiction.
He urged the state government to provide more health personnel to enable effective service delivery. Oyekan noted that Lagos Island is the only council currently paying minimum wage to its ad-hoc medical staff, underscoring his administration’s support for healthcare workers.
The meeting ended with a shared resolve to improve the quality and accessibility of primary healthcare services for residents of Lagos Island.
