Lagos First Lady, Idimogu Canvass Corporate Organizations Support For Less Privileged, Windows

The first lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and Mrs Roseline Enitan Idimogu, have called on corporate organizations to assist in providing for the less privileged and widows in the state,as part efforts to promote service to humanity.

Mrs Sanwo Olu and Mrs Idimogu stated this over the weekend, duringย ย Womenโ€™s Day Celebration, Empowerment Programme and Presentation of Award of Excellence by the Women Wing of Igbo Speaking Community of Lagos State.

Speaking at event , the first lady of Lagos State reiterated that “A huge chunk of our population in Lagos State is made up of youth and as such any initiative geared towards empowering our burgeoning youth population, be it from the public sector, private sector or Non-Governmental Organizations and Associations, is a right move and a welcome development.

“Widows too suffer economic hardship as a result of the fact that the responsibilities for two people to shoulder now rest on only the woman in the house, not also forgetting the discrimination and injustice from in-laws, relatives and the society due to the demise of their husbands.

She affirmed that the stateย  government would support the people, especially in terms of welfare and commitment.

 

“I am pleased to join you at this auspicious occasion of Womenโ€™s Day Celebration, Empowerment Programme and Presentation of Award of Excellence by the Women Wing of Igbo Speaking Community of Lagos State.

Let me begin by appreciating this Association for finding me worthy of being presented with an Award of Excellence in recognition and appreciation of our sincere

 

 

While appreciating the socio cultural group for the award , the governor’s wife disclosed that efforts to fast-track growth and development was in progressย  and also to scale up the welfare and wellbeing of residents, especially women, youths and children.

 

 

“This award, therefore, will no doubt reinforce our conviction to continually put measures in place to assuage the plight of less privileged and the downtrodden in the society.

 

” I also heartily congratulate the Women Wing of Igbo Speaking Community of Lagos State for putting this programme together to celebrate women, and most importantly empower widows, youths and generally the less privileged in their midst.

 

 

 

“Therefore, I applaud the initiative of Women Wing of Igbo Speaking Community of Lagos State to reach out with a helping hand to lessen the burden of widows, youths and the less privileged in the society.

 

 

 

Speaking on the laurel, Lady Roselineย  Idimoguย  expressed her sincere delight over the award given to the Lagos first lady,ย  Ibijoke Sanwo-olu and herself by the women wing of the Igbo speaking community in Lagos.

Lady Idimogu said “Am humbled by this honour to represent our mother in the state. No doubt, it’sย  a double blessing receiving these awards for the first lady of the state and for my humble self.

“I will deliver the message to the first lady, she has never relented on issues that concern widows and the less privileged people.

 

“Their step pleases God, because He supports the widow. The women should not be discouraged

 

“Work of charity is not an easy task but when you do, be rest assured that God will reward you exceedingly.

 

“God will continue to give you wisdom and knowledge to accommodate people and to carry on, you know to be a woman and to gather them together is not an essay task, most of us are stubborn by nature, but we believe in God almighty. There is nothing God cannot do, with God, all things are possible”,she added

 

Speaking also, Sir Jude Idimogu, the honourable member representing Oshodi/ Isolo II Constituency of the Lagos State House of Assembly, said the vision of seeking fund to support women is a welcomed development.

 

The lawmaker noted that widows and less privileged in the state need support especially now the economy is biting so hard.

 

Idimogu who is the highest ranking political Igbo leader in Lagos called on the Ndigbo to ensure good use of the ongoing voters registration and get registered.

In the forthcoming Local government Election, Hon Idimogu called on the Igbo to use the election to make their impact felt.

 

“Now we are close to local government election, I want to tell my Igbo brothers and sisters here in Lagos in their respective LGAs, LCDAs here in Lagos, they should please make time to go and vote for their respective candidates.

 

“Am an All Progressives Congress(APC) man, though this is not a political rally, but I also need to sale my products which is APC, like I have continued to say, where you live is where you will continue to protect.

 

“Igbos are not a kind of group you can push over we advise our people to make good use of their population, to harness it wisely.

 

“Here in Lagos, APC is the government in power, by the grace of God, we are going to win very well in the forthcoming LGA election.

 

“The general election for 2023 has commenced, INEC has started registration online lets use this opportunity to register and sort out issues with our voters card that has made it difficult for us to participate actively before now.”
