Lack Of Medical Check Up By Nigerians Result To Untimely Death…..Rotary Club

The Rotary International on Friday said some of the human collapses or deaths is as a result of lack of medical checks on their health status by Nigerians especially as it has to do with their livers.

 

The Chairman of Hepatitis for Ritary Club if Warri, Rotarian Sheriff Mulade made the assertion shortly after flagging of the “Hepatitis Zero” Awareness Campaign(World Education Project) at the Warri Central Hospital.

 

Rotarian Mulade said it is important for Nigerians to check their health status monthly so as to know how their system works.

Rotarian Mulade said alot of people are ignorant of the hepatitis which according to him is more dangerous disease than even the HIV/Aids.

“Alot of people are ignorant because they’re not aware of their health status and rotary has discovered this and the need to sensitize the people and profer solutions by carrying out tests to enable us identify those who are affected by this symptoms.

 

” If we identify those who are positive, we will note them down and relate to our Rotary International Office in the US, where they’re going to provide drugs to make sure that they will be able to survive.”

 

While noting that Hepititis is a dangerous disease, Rotarian Mulade said there are solutions to it.

Mulade said the hepatitis zero campaign which was organized by the Rotray Club of Warri at the Central Hospital to sensitize the members of the public is also being held all over the world.

“Go to Effurun today, it’s also taking place. Go to the 25 local government areas where rotary is found, it’s also taking place. It is not just General Hospital Warri.”

 

The President of Rotary Club of Warri, Rotarian Bridget Ideji described hepatitis as disease of the liver stressing that ,”most often than not, people live with it without knowing that they are carriers of this disease” pointing out that the disease has somehow killed a lot of persons.

 

“It kills we are told, faster than HIV/Aids. So, Rotary international being a human service organization decided at a time like this to do good once more.

“Not only will they do good on polio and related diseases, but they have decided to do good in the light of hepatitis awareness. People should come to this forum and know your status”.

 

Rotarian Ideji said Rotary international is testing for hepatitis ” B” &”C” positive, collate the results of patients and send back to Rotary who has promised to provide free medical treatments for various categories.

 

Rotarian Ideji also stressed that the treatment will be a continuous exercise based on the information they have collated thus far.
