Keyamo To Declare CILT Nigeria Conference Open In Lagos 

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barrister Festus Keyamo is expected to declare the 2023 Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria conference open in Lagos on the 27th of November 2023.

The two day conference is expected to hold between 27 and 28 November 2023 at Lagos Continental Hotel , Kofo Abayomi Street , Victoria Island.

President of CILT Nigeria, Mrs Mfon Usoro disclosed this on Monday via zoom on a pre-conference webinar .

With the theme : Designing the future of transportation and logistics in Africa: the need for dialogue, Usoro reiterated that the Minister who recently received the Institute  chartered fellow will declare the conference open , while the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and that of Transportation will be duly represented at the event.

Highlighting some of the showcase session at the two day event ,Usoro stated that CILT Nigeria has continued to draw participants from local and international noting that the year’s conference will be participatory by members of the institute.

She reaffirmed that policy makers and implementation agencies are to be in attendance at the conference adding that over 500 participants will be adding value to the iconic event.

She noted that paper presentations will cut across all modes of transportation pointing out that the year’s event will be of international standard.

Usoro, a former Director General,Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) affirmed that researchers and academicians will deliver top notch paper presentations to enlighten and educate participants.

She added that the event will also host cultural session to promote the rich heritage of Nigeria.

According to her, members of CILT Nigeria will participate in the native attire as part of the cultural innovation, which she described as traditional setting to spice the occasion.

Keynote Speaker, Dr. Ogochukwu Ugboma stressed that the event will bring together experts and practitioners to dialogue and proffer solutions to transport challenges.

Ugboma said CILT Nigeria is position to address challenges of the sector calling on stakeholders to collaborate with the institute in furtherance to develop all modes of transportation.

Meanwhile, chairpersons of various sub committees took turn to share their thoughts about the planning and progress recorded ahead of the event.

Similarly, Geraldine Ukeudo, Chairperson, Editorial Committee,  noted that 15 papers have been reviewed ahead of the Conference, adding that the papers covered safety,risk management, sustainability and digital technology.

Ukeudo also disclosed that papers will be presented by experts from England and South Africa respectively.

She added that the experts will give detailed information about the importance of transportation at the conference.

On her part ,Ada Nwonu , Chairperson, Technical Committee, noted that over 500 persons will participate at the year’s conference.

Jafaar Bello, Chairman, Logistics Committee, stated that personnel from Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Vehicles Inspection Service (VIS) will be on ground to control the traffic situation within Victoria Island and environs.

Bello stated that the conference will also experience boat cruise and light rail excursion within the Lagos lagoon , while the rail shuttle will run from Mile 2 to CMS.

Bashir Ambi Head of Publicity assured that the event will be duly covered by the media.

Ambi reiterated that CILT Nigeria has continued to record tremendous media support over the years.

He maintained that publicity is continuous and the year’s conference is no exception.

Margaret Ogbonnah ,Head Finance told the online participants that over twenty corporate and privates organisations supported the year’s conference adding that the event is still open for support and sponsorship.
