She pointed out that the appointment of more women into political positions in the God’s Liberations government of Governor Sim Fubara would make them have a sense of belonging.

She also used the opportunity to canvassed support for Governor Fubara, saying that women should rally around the governor in prayers , for him to complete the good work he had started.

In her words,”Women support the “Messiah” of our time, he is the only governor that could turn their lives around for better”.

Barine urged women not to be complacent but to continue to exert subtle pressure until they over come the problem of gender disparity in political affairs in the country.

Also speaking,a Frontline ogoni business woman,Mrs Dumale Ngbaawii recommended focused education and systematic capacity building as strategies for mobilising toward improved women’s participation in political lives of the country.

Despite the fact that women formed the majority of voters,Mrs. Ngbaawii said they were marginalized in elective and appointed political positions.

“To get away from the “sloganisation” of gender and to ensure that the challenges of balancing women’s multiple roles and identities do not continue to underplay the gender dimensions, Ngbaawii recommended a built-in mechanism that would compel officials to become sensitive to the need of women .

She recommended organising partnership building and networking to develop agenda for effective women mobilisation and effective political participation and systematically remove politics of undue manipulation of few appointed incompetent females.
