JUST IN: SSASCGOC Maritime Joins Monday Indefinite Strike

Port operations will further suffer setbacks begining from Monday 3rd June 2024 as the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) Maritime Branch will embark on the Trade Union Congress (TUC) directive of indefinite strike.

Earlier in today, June 1st 2024, leadership of the Maritime Workers Union Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the leadership of Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju obliged to comply with the directive of both the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to join in the indefinite total lock down of the country commencing from Monday, the 3rd of June, 2024.

But in a document sighted by DAILYFOCUS NIGERIA, titled “NOTICE OF INDEFINITE STRIKE, the eTrade Union Congress and Nigeria Labour Congress directed all
affiliates to proceed on an indefinite strike arising from the breakdown in the
negotiation of the National Minimum Wage.

According to the statement signed by the acting Secretary General of SSASCGOC, Comrade Michael Idoko, all its affiliate are directed to mobilize members and embark on indefinite strike.

“All branches are hereby directed to mobilize its members and embark on indefinite strike effective 00.01 am on Monday 3rd June 2024 until a new minimum is negotiated and agreed upon.

” The decision to embark on this indefinite strike action is as result of the
lacklustre attitude of the government to the negotiation.

All branches should ensure that this directive is totally complied with”

Confirming the document to our correspondent on Saturday , President of SSASCGOC Maritime Branch,Comrade Akinola Bodunde stated that they are to comply with the directive from the national body.
