Senator Akwashiki was the acting spokesperson following the removal of Ekiti Senator, Adebayo Adeyeye who was sacked by a court in November 2019.

Although the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State immediately rejected the judgment, the opposition PDP applauded it as the restoration of the people’s mandate.

It should be noted that both senators contested Ekiti South Senatorial District seat in the February 23, 2019, National Assembly election.

Recalls that a Court of Appeal, sitting in Kaduna replaced Mr Adeyeye with former minority leader, Senator Abiodun Olujimi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
