The chartered Institute of Transport Administration (CIoTA) Nigeria has disclosed plans to engage a competent registrar to manage the affairs of the institute.
President of CIOTA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh told DAILYFOCUS NEWS ONLINE on Sunday in Lagos, that the institute is set to take the transport industry to the next level hence, personalities with vivid and indept knowledge of the industry must be injected into the system.
According to him, a competent personality would be engaged since the institute has been chartered and such an individual will also have it in mind to key into the vision of CIoTA in achieving set objectives.
Jamoh who also doubles as the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), stated that since the bill was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari; leaders of the institute are working round the clock to ensure a sustainable transport system from all ramifications.
He noted that CIoTA currently has only one staff and would later engage more hands soon but the position of a registrar is of essence at the moment.
However, the President also stated that engagement of more hands for the institute is not a personal responsible but collective efforts from council executives of CIoTA, which according to him, must embrace due process.
“We are looking for experienced hand from the transport industry ,, somebody that will share our dreams and goals for the sector.
“We are not only looking for a registrar anyway; we need management staff at the right time and my mode of leadership is all about corporate governance.
“I cannot take decision alone even if we are able to get competent hands, I have to convey it to the council for us to evaluate and agree on who is fit for what position for employment.
