INSECURITY: Delta Govt Inaugurates Two Committees On Community Policing

The Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has inaugurated two committees on community policing in the state capital Asaba.

Okowa in a statement on Friday, disclosed that it was in response to yearnings of citizens for local policing apparatus to help check the rising security challenges in the state.

Governor Okowa further stated that the committees, State Community Policing Advisory Committee (SCPAC) and State Community Policing Committee (SCPC).

were created to deepen the security in the state and to tackle insecurity issues.

“Community policing provides us with a strong platform of collaboration between the police, the people and the Government.

This will enable us to improve the processes and structures that engender peace-building and preserve our collective security,” Governor Okowa said.

In a related development, the State Ministry of Youth Development held the closing ceremony of the Delta Fabric (Akwa-Ocha/Akwa-Oma) Training Program at the Accelerated Delta Innovation (Leather Work/Shoe Making Factory) in Issele-Uku.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga thanked Governor Okowa for his vision to empower youths in becoming entrepreneurs especially in the production of Akwa-Ocha/Akwa-Oma.

“I am confident that this training has provided a useful platform for the beneficiaries to gain not just hands-on-skills but also new insights that will help them succeed in the textile industry,” the commissioner said.
